Traditional Chinese Veterinary Medicine incorporates many modalities to achieve clinical results. Dr. Stembler Bockstedt integrates Acupuncture, Herbal supplements, Tui-na (medical massage), and Food therapy as needed to obtain optimal results for your pet. As a licensed veterinarian, she will also recommend “western” veterinary care; as modern diagnostic tests provide wonderful information to help her practice TCVM more accurately and effectively. Dr. Stembler Bockstedt also strongly believes in “integrative medicine”; and that the best clinical results are often achieved by integrating western and eastern medicine.
Acupuncture is not usually painful. Over 95% of patients are comfortable during treatment; and many even fall asleep. Dr. Stembler Bockstedt has a wide range of sizes of sterile needles to choose from, and she incorporates techniques such as aqua puncture, moxibustion, and electro- acupuncture as needed to tailor the treatment to your pet’s needs.
The first appointment will run from 1-2 hours, and recheck appointments are 40-60 minutes. Most problems will need at least 4 treatments; though occasionally with the use of herbal supplements, food therapy or Tui-na, pets do not need to come as often.
